We are back with a new twist to the Koffee KaraVan project. It is a continuation of our research: Koffee KaraVan- A brew of Publishing. I am sure you have heard the saying below;
People in Africa do not read or write. Infact, if you want to hide something from an African, put it in a book.
This is the stereotypical narrative that has been going on for ages. Whilst to some extent on a surface level, it does look like this could be true however once you dig a bit deeper, a whole lot is revealed about the publishing industry in Uganda and Africa. This is the untold story that the Koffee KaraVan wanted to tell.
And tell it we did. So much came to the surface and we are not going to go over it one by one, but just click here to read about the findings of the research however there is one thing that stood out that we would like to highlight which is the difficulty of authors from Uganda and Africa have in marketing their books. It is difficult enough to write it but getting it out to the world is a whole different story. …
And this is where the twist comes in. We heard the cries of our beloved authors and have added on a surprise project- Branding and marketing for authors. In this project, we will showcase and capacitate emerging authors with a hope of creating a platform or marketplace that is more friendly for Afro-centric creations compared to some of the existing structures which are geared towards those abroad as well as equip authors with a plan of action on what course of action to pursue upon publication such as branding and marketing their work as authors.
